0 The Dorm Room Must Be Like Home

Moving away to the university can be a great deal of fun but most college freshman find the most difficult part of dorm living lies in being so far away from the comfortable surroundings of their home and family. Because of this many parents and students try to send their college student away with many reminders of home but in a small dorm room it can be difficult to identify the space to keep little trinkets and favorite items that offer the memories of childhood and loved ones from back home.

It is important for a student to have those things that are important but to find a way to do so as to not interfere with the small amount of space that is offered by most college dormitories. Dorm rooms are very small and offer little by way of extra space for mementos. As a result it is up to students and parents to find little ways to offer students those little touches of home without offering items that will clutter their work and living space. Some families have found ways to adorn items with reminders from home without creating new clutter by offering useful items to their students.

A number of families have chosen to put family pictures onto a CD which offers the student the prospect of seeing the faces of their loved ones at any time they choose without having to haul along photo albums. Since CD's are available to be played in DVD places and in computer disc drives the student will be able to look at their family members any time they choose without having to sacrifice any extra dorm space.

Another way that families have found to share memories of home and childhood with their student is by creating a blanket using not only pictures but pieces of fabric from baby clothes and important items from childhood. These little bits of fabric can really help a student to feel closer to their roots as they pursue their degree, and this can help to push them forward knowing the love and support that they have working behind them.

Anything that can be hung on the wall will also work well and this could be hanging a baby blanket or a collage of pictures of loved ones. Some students even like to create a shelf for small memory items from childhood; of course this will depend on how many items that student has of great importance to them. Another option could be to take pictures of the items that hold great importance and hang these instead of the actual items themselves which will really help to free up space and still allow them to experience those feelings of love and home any time they need them.

A college checklist will be needed for a parent sending a child to live on campus. You will need to furnish college dorm bedding for the dorm room. Go to rhl.org today for all your dorm room necessities, they have a large selection and associates to help you with any questions.
