1. Buckingham Palace - This is the official residence of the Queen of England. Set close to Green Park in the City of Westminster, the Palace is certainly a spectacle and it hosts a spectacular garden that is home to over 30 different species of bird. Every day outside the palace, the changing of the guards occurs. This is now a very popular attraction, you can expect to see this at 2.15pm every day.
2. The London Eye - Also known as the millennium eye, this is a modern build giant wheel that sits right next to the River Thames. It's probably the best place to get a good view of London. A trip usually takes 45 minutes. Try to avoid cloudy days for this one.
3. Big Ben - The clock tower for the Houses of Parliament is an iconic part of the London and it's certainly a popular attraction. Big Ben is the biggest four-faced chiming clock in the world and it has been part of the London landscape since it was completed 150 years ago.
4. Shopping - London is famous for fashion and its shops. There are many different areas in London that are dedicated to shopping. The most well known area is the West End, where you will find Oxford Street. Oxford Street is home to all the major fashion retailers and the big brands, it's also close to the famous Carnaby Street and Regent Street, these streets are also both famous for shopping. Another popular destination for shoppers is Harrods which is in Knightsbridge.
5. Museums - Whether you are interested in art, science or history you will certainly find a museum that interests you in London. Another great thing about the museums in London is that most of them are free.
6. The West End - The West End is home to the weird and the wonderful. There are plenty of things to see and do in this area that includes Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Soho and Piccadilly Circus in the area.
7. The Parks - London has a number of parks, green areas and open spaces where you can watch the world go by. Hyde Park is probably the most well known and it's the biggest in central London, but there are other really nice parks, like Green Park and St James' Park. There are also some parks in more suburban areas that popular among tourists, such as Hampstead Heath and Greenwich Park.
8. Nightlife - It's hard to miss the nightlife in London. There really is something for everyone, with clubs dedicated to all different types of music, culture and people. Popular commercial clubs are usually in Central London around the Leicester Square and Soho area, because of licensing in Westminster, most clubs in this area close at 3am. If you are looking to stay out a bit longer you might have to venture out of the city centre.
9. Eating Out - England might not be as famous for its food as other countries such as Italy, but London is famous for welcoming food from across the globe. If you look hard enough you will find food you never know even existed.
